Bellringing at St Mary's Church
Chiddingfold

WE HAVE A FINE PEAL OF BELLS AT CHIDDINGFOLD,
EIGHT OF THE BEST!

And we have some fine ringers of those bells; skilful and committed people, who enjoy their hobby, and spend many enjoyable hours practicing the necessary skills and ringing the bells for Church services and a variety of other community events. It is a fascinating and rewarding sport, serving a splendid purpose in keeping a uniquely British tradition alive. The service to the Church and Community is an immeasurable benefit; the sound of church bells is a pleasure to so many. The continuance of such a tradition is a pleasurable obligation for our established band of ringers. To ensure that this fine peal of bells is rung as they deserve, and to their best effect, it is necessary to have a team, (or band) of at least sixteen active ringers. That allows for all the usual abstractions that any team sport has to account for! We currently have a few less than that, and the possibility that the bells cannot be rung on a regular basis is ever more likely, unless we train a number of new ringers to swell our numbers and replace those who move away or otherwise cease regular ringing.

THE COMMUNITY IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO TAKE AN INTEREST IN THEIR BELLS AND BELL RINGING.

Should you wish to try the experience, you may begin training under expert guidance at some convenient time. This will be at your pace and to your own schedule, and with very fulfilling results! I can guarantee that you will find that bell ringing is a far more involved and fascinating pursuit than you could imagine! For more information about the bells visit our website at:
