London’s Air Ambulance
Charity air ambulance helicopters from across the region played a major role in dealing with a spate of road traffic accidents across the region at the weekend. The specialist medical crews of the Surrey and Essex air ambulances were all called into action to treat and fly patients to hospitals with the minimum of delay.
No less than four helicopters went to the scene of an accident in Billingshurst, East Sussex, on Saturday evening, when three teenagers were seriously injured. They included the three charitably funded air ambulances from Kent, Sussex and London and the Sussex police helicopter. A car, in which the two women and two men, all in their late teens were travelling, was in collision with a lorry at a junction in the road.

A record crowd flocked to the Surrey Air Ambulance Open Day on Sunday, helping to raise more than £10,000 for the life-saving charity .
About 6,000 visitors turned out for the annual event at Dunsfold Park to meet the crew of the twin-engine MD902 helicopter.
Pilots, doctors and paramedics signed autographs for members of the public who were given a guided tour of the aircraft which can reach patients within minutes.

The 2005 survey identified 29 households,
from a broad spectrum of the community,
including; single people, couples and local families
who were unable to access a home suitable for their needs.
More recent evidence shows that the 2005 survey
underestimates the need in the village.

The Air Ambulance service in Kent, Surrey and Sussex costs around £ 3
million annually to stay airborne. Receiving no funding from the Government
or the National Lottery the charity is entirely dependent upon the generosity
of the public to support the two helicopters, based at Marden and Dunsfold.

Four or five times a day, anyone near the Royal London Hospital in the capital's
East End can hear the familiar clatter of a helicopter taking off from the
roof of the Accident and Emergency wing.
On board is likely to be Dr Gareth Davies, a consultant in emergency medicine and pre-hospital care. Along with a paramedic, another doctor and two pilots, London's distinctive red air ambulance will be flying to the scene of a serious accident.
This could typically be someone who's fallen from a height, a child with serious burns, or even the victim of a shooting. Mostly however, it is to attend a serious road crash
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance have once again taken to the
skies!
The charity’s two helicopters were grounded last Friday following reports
of ash from the Icelandic volcano in the air and on the ground in Southern
England. An up-date at 10.30am this morning (Monday 19 April) from the Air
Ambulance’s helicopter provider has cleared both aircraft for flying but only
to emergency calls.
Your old clothes and shoes can now be turned into money and you
can help the environment!
L W Sait & Sons have launched a new recycling initiative which will
help to raise funds for the Surrey Air Ambulance.
On Monday, Councillors from Chiddingfold Parish Council took delivery of the
first clothes and shoe recycling bank at their Coxcombe Lane recreation ground
car park.
Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Richard Hogsflesh, said “With an expected annual
minimum return to the Surrey Air Ambulance Fund of £750, the council
decided that this was an excellent scheme to aid the air ambulance service
as they have been called to assist residents on more than one occasion.
As Surrey prepares to detox after the festive season, the Surrey Air Ambulance is encouraging people to get out of their arm chairs, dust off the post Christmas blues and to get fit in preparation for the British 10k London Run in July.
The life-saving charity has places available for people to run and every entrant is encouraged to raise a minimum of £300 (three hundred pounds) for the charity.
Two Surrey lads say their New Year resolution will bring them personal pain for twelve months as they raise money to help the Surrey Air Ambulance save lives.
25 year-old Steve Breslin from Clapham in London and 31 year-old Chris Hicks from Ellison Way, Tongham near Guildford are planning on completing an extreme set of personal challenges - one a month over the next year. The challenges will see their personal fitness put to the test and they say often ‘taken to the limit.
St Mary's school Chiddingfold received a special visitor on February 6th
after some 'Funky Fundraising'.
Funky Footwear Friday is a fun and unique way to raise money for the local Air Ambulance. Every year as part of Air Ambulance week, local schools, businesses and groups to put on their funkiest footwear, give a suggested donation of a £1 and collect their 'Funky Button' badge. Participants can still wear their full uniform, only their shoes are funky!

Over the last few weeks there have been reports from the Witley/Milford and Charterhouse area about a male calling door to door offering wheelie bin cleaning services. This male offers to clean bins after they have been emptied and asks for £20 to cover a number of cleanings. The male then does not return to clean bins and offers a range of excuses why he is not able to carry out the work.
Unfornately, the male is plausible and very pleasant, and gives a home address in Horsell, Woking. He has provided documentation stating the Waverley Borough Council has given approval for his work, which is not true as Waverley do not endorse specific traders. He also carries a piece of paper which he claims is signed by a Surrey police officer. This is also a fake document, as we do not approve traders to operate.
This male is already under investigation by Surrey trading standards, and also by our colleagues in Woking.
Please could anyone approached by this man, or by any other trader you
may have suspicions of

By now I hope you appreciate that we have a very special legacy in these bells, and I do hope that the village is a much better place for having them. (It would be a very sad thing to NOT have them surely!)
However, I, and the other bell ringers, are mindful that our ringing is intrusive,
(loud).
Despite our best efforts, there are occasions when the music is not at it's
best, particularly when practice and learners are involved! Whilst we have
some sound-control, the sound of the bells does reach parts that other music
does not!
So I am asking the village, and anyone else affected, to let me know your views - More

Some thoughts on the New coalition Goverment
Most political parties are internal coalitions,
Their members having a range of views. The idea of broad church parties, and some sort of concesus between the members or between rank and file and the leaders
The Lib - Dems in the past had no main idology In the North they were anti Labour In the South It was Labour has no chance Vote Lib Dem to beat the Torries even in Labour held seats
In future elections how can the Lib - Dems say the only way to beat the Torries is to vote Lib-Dem
The Academies Bill – marketisation meets sectarianism

This is the true face of the Tories

This deficit is not the result of gross misconduct of the general population and is not limited to Britain or the fault of the Labour party. It is a global crisis that originated in meltdown of the financial and banking sector, which arguably the whole western system has been involved in in one way or another, partly because of the lack of regulations and the free reign of the market. And for which the whole western world needs to find ways of dealing with.
The messages that this government are sending out are destructive to morale and self-esteem of this country, they are punishing and threatening. It is a cheap and populist way of throwing up of values, e.g. arts against sciences (what has more grip on reality, what counts more) making the arts marketable and market-oriented. The global financial crisis shows what can happen if markets are the only measure tool.
